I’ve heard of Invisalign before, but what exactly are they?
Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners, which no one can tell you’re wearing and don’t stand out like those pesky and annoying metal braces.
Invisalign helps create confidence, allowing you to smile more during treatment as well as after and feel great about yourself. Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging technology, and has been proven effective. More than 70% of orthodontists in the US and Canada are certified to treat with Invisalign and more and more dentists, like Dr. Snapp and Dr. Suttles, are becoming certified to help their existing and growing patient base.
You may ask, “Why would I want Invisalign?”
Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want during the treatment phases. In addition, brushing and flossing are never a problem and help in the assistance of keeping a clean mouth and continuously improve your oral hygiene routine. These clear braces are also very comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment or potentially cutting your tongue when trying to dig food out of the metal braces applications. With no metal and wires, this means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting adjustments and more time smiling!
Our Charlotte Invisalign dentists allow you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start, so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
Ok, I’m interested. But, how does it all work?
It’s an easy and pretty much pain/discomfort free process. Typically, most patients wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position our dentists have projected and planned for in your prescription of the Invisalign application. You’ll visit us about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case. Again, these are average treatment sessions and could vary from patient to patient, so it’s highly important that you contact Park Cedar Dentistry to get your consultation and plan of care towards your more beautiful smile!
